Frank, could I make a follow-up here:
I know that it's not recommended to drain oil if the engine is cold, but is it not possible to do it?
My Savage from April 2002 (3000 km) is standing indoors this winter, living room temperature ;-) I didn't change oil before taking it in mid November, but quite often I regret this, cause I've heard about acid in oil if it stands still for 3-4 months.
Oil was changed last time in August 02, and since then it didn't run much more than 1000 km, so I don't really know if this oil could do any harm this winter. I mean, should I not bother to change oil now, and just wait until spring to change the oil (the regular way with warm engine)..?
Please advise.
